I can only imagine the excitement of being a collegiate athlete and preparing for a National Championship. The blood, sweat and tears that has gone into days, weeks, & months of training all coming to a head. The anticipation of traveling across the country to compete against the country’s top athletes in your sport. Playing out each and every minute over and over in your mind with every possible outcome rehearsed.  Just thinking about it gives me butterflies in my stomach for all 300 athletes traveling this week from across the United States to compete right here in Greater Lansing for the 2016 National Outdoor Collegiate Archery Championships.

This first time event for Greater Lansing is being hosted by the Greater Lansing Sports Authority in partnership with the MSU Archery Team at Hope Sports Complex May 19-22, 2016. 300 archers representing 40 colleges or universities from 22 different states will step off a plane or out of a car/bus to battle for 4 days at the opportunity to be the crowned a National Champion. Four different divisions will compete as individuals, teams and mixed teams including; Barebow, Bowhunter, Compound and Recurve.

We welcome the community to come out and join us as these top archers take the field at their shot at a National title. The MSU Archery Team will be giving back to the Greater Lansing Community by hosting an Information session for area youth following the team rounds on Saturday May 21st, at 5pm. We invite you to come out early and experience a growing sport in our community and hear from some of the top archers about the sport of archery & how you and your children can get involved right here in Greater Lansing. We will be raffling off some fun prizes that you won’t want to miss!   The event is open to the public with free admission! Parking onsite is available for $5 per car.

Best of luck to all 300 archers traveling from near and far as you compete on a National stage! We are very excited to host such a prestigious event and hope you all enjoy your time in Michigan’s Capital city!
