When people think of sports events in Greater Lansing Michigan they tend to immediately think of Michigan State University Athletics. Now while that's awesome, its just the beginning. On any given weekend you can find amateur athletic contests of nearly every kind occurring at the numerous sports venues throughout the Greater Lansing area. I'm talking soccer, softball, swimming, lacrosse, water polo, hockey, figure skating, baseball and more and more and more. So whether you're a junkie for watching live sports, or you're involved in a tournament sport and you think Lansing could possibly play host - you're absolutely onto something with being here, on the website of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority. Our goal is to both draw tournaments to the area and work to develop tournaments that are already here into being bigger and better. Why? Because for one, we're crazy about sports. Athletic competition is good for your mind and body and at the end of the day, sports are just some of the most fun you can have as a human. Why else? Its great for the local economy. When people come to Greater Lansing for, say, a youth hockey tournament, they stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants, shop, get gas, you name it. This influx of money creates a need for local workers and adds a lot of out of town money into the economy that makes Greater Lansing work.

So you're a sports fan, that's why you're here. Now take it a step further! Go to some of the different sports events going on in the Greater Lansing area, brought here by the GLSA! Cross Country National Championships, High School State Tournaments and much more are here more often than you think. Next? Think about the sports you play. Could Lansing host a tournament for your sport? Talk to the GLSA about it! Feeling bold? Be a volunteer at any one of the sports events the GLSA is involved with. You'll have a ball, make new friends and be helping the community at the same time.
