CFT-Sinas Dramis Law Cycling Team (CFT), the Michigan Bicycle Racing Association (MBRA) and the Greater Lansing Sports Authority (GLSA) are pleased to welcome to the area the 2014 Michigan State Criterium Championships, at the Capital City Cycling Classic, a sanctioned event with USA Cycling on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
The Cycling Classic is now in its third year and is proud to have been awarded this State Championship event. The event will draw over 250 riders from across the state, as well as many more cycling enthusiasts for a day of fun in downtown Lansing. The event, which includes multiple race divisions from kids to pros, will have eleven total races throughout the day on a 1.2 mile course that wraps around the State Capitol building and its surrounding streets in downtown Lansing.
Spectators are sure to enjoy both top-notch racing and a fun festival atmosphere with three local bands performing live music on the Capitol lawn and an open kids race at noon. Spectators are encouraged to be downtown Lansing by 10 a.m. to ensure a spot by the start/finish line (in front of the Capitol Building) and to get kids of all ages, and their bikes, entered into the kids open race.
Lansing is the State Capitol, so what better place to host a State Championship event?, said Steve Smith, 2014 Michigan State Criterium Championships race director. Some of the best racers in the state will be downtown on Saturday and were looking forward to a fabulous day of fun, racing and positive light shed onto the region through this special bicycling event.
