The Greater Lansing Sports Authority and Michigan Special Olympics will host two upcoming events providing competition and camaraderie for over 1,000 athletes. The 2019 State Poly Hockey Tournament will be held at Holt High School November 23-24 and the 2019 State Unified Bowling Tournament will be November 23rd at Royal Scot Golf and Bowl.

The State Poly Hockey Tournament, which grows in popularity each year has been held in Greater Lansing since 1988. The Unified Bowling event has been held in Greater Lansing since 2006.

“The Greater Lansing community is incredibly proud to be host to these two major state Special Olympics events,” said Mike Price, Executive Director of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority. “The State Fall Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling Finals presented by event partner Water Warriors Mackinaw Ride, offers a high profile, exciting event for approximately 1,100 Special Olympics Michigan athletes from 49 different counties across the state.”

The 2019 State Poly Hockey Tournament is an adaptive sport similar to floor hockey. Athletes use plastic hockey sticks and pucks and play on a floor surface. Competition will consist of both team-play and an individual skills contest. Competition will take place at the main and north campus of Holt High School, November 23-24.

The State Unified Bowling Tournament is so named because it pairs a Special Olympics Michigan athlete with an athlete who does not have an intellectual disability. Competition will be all day November 23rd at Royal Scot golf and Bowl.
