Fans of women’s soccer in Greater Lansing are about to be very happy.

The Greater Lansing Sports Authority is happy to join the City of Lansing and the Hope Sports Complex for an exciting announcement about the future of women’s soccer in the Greater Lansing region.

A Women’s Premier League (WPSL) team will be based at Hope Sports Complex and parties involved feel the team will draw national and international caliber women players, as well as top collegiate talent.

“The Lansing United Men’s Team has a huge following of fans and Chill SBC’s new WPSL team is going to take soccer in the region to another level,” said Mayor Virg Bernero. ”

Chill SBC Executive Director Ben Jones said, “We are proud to bring this opportunity to Greater Lansing. Our WPSL team will provide youth female players with great role models and a team they can aspire to play on as they progress through the club. It’s yet another exciting addition to the growing Chill SBC Soccer Club.”

Mike Price, Executive Director of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority said the new women’s team will create new synergies in the Greater Lansing economy. “Chill SBC’s WPSL soccer team will drive new growth in our sports-related economy by attracting thousands of fans to their matches and bringing new business to area hotels, restaurants and others. That’s very exciting news for Lansing, and South Lansing in particular,” said Price.

Chill SBC has named Jorge Eufracio as the teams head coach. Coach Eufracio brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels of the women’s game.
