The Steam Railroading Institute is dedicated to the education and preservation of steam-era rail technology and its impact on the Great Lakes region. SRI is home to the majestic Pere Marquette 1225 steam locomotive, used as the prototype for the Warner Brothers film, "The Polar Express." Visitors can enjoy live steam, a visitor center, gift shop and experience what steam railroading is today.
Open- Memorial Day - Labor Day Wed-Sun 10am - 5pm and Labor Day - Memorial Day Fri-Sat-Sun 10am - 5pm.
