Mission Statement

The focus of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority (GLSA), a division of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau, is to promote sports in the region by bringing in and supporting quality athletic tournaments, while also fostering the development of local sports events.

The mission of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau is to positively impact the area’s economy by marketing the region as a travel destination.  We are a non-profit organization that markets Greater Lansing as a destination for meetings, events, sporting tournaments and leisure travel.

Position Description

We are seeking a current college student to join the Greater Lansing Sports Authority. This position is unpaid/for college credit, with some evening and weekend work required. We will offer three different semester-based internships throughout the year including; January-May, May-September, and September-December Position reports to the Associate Director of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority and assists in providing services and support for sporting events in which the GLSA is involved.

  • On-site event assistance, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Various administrative and clerical functions.
  • Creation of team bags and other customized information.
  • Researching prospective sporting events for the Greater Lansing area.
  • Assist with updating and coordinating of web site and social media content.

Core Competencies

Our preferred candidate will have a working knowledge of sport management and event coordination, strong organizational and time management skills, and an ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite are required.  Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills are essential to success in this position. 

Experience in sport management or coordination is preferred.
