The Greater Lansing Sports Authority is pleased to welcome back to the region the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship July 11-14, 2019 at the Michigan Trap Association (MTA) Home grounds in Mason.
This event, which has grown to include 1,800 individual shooters and 207 teams of 5, will bring competitors, family and fans from across the country for a 4-day stay in the area. The best high school-aged trap shooters in the nation will be competing for top honors. It’s the 2nd year of the event and the second year its been held in Mason.
“Trap shooting is a growing sport among the nation’s youth and we’re very proud to be hosting the best-of-the-best for the national championships,” said Meghan Ziehmer, Associate Executive Director for the GLSA. “It is our hope that before and after competition, participants and their families will take the time to explore Greater Lansing’s many shopping, dining and entertainment options.”
John Nelson, President of the USA Clay Target League, is also glad to see the event returning to mid-Michigan. “The MTA home grounds is a great site because of it’s convenient upper Midwest location, field and camping capabilities and incredible staff,” said Nelson. “This is a family-friendly event that showcases the best young clay target shooters in the country and the passion they have for the sport.”
Practice rounds begin on Thursday, July 11th kicking off with a tailgate party, ice cream social and country music concert starring singer Lucas Hoge at 6:30 p.m.. Competitions begin each day at 9 a.m. with new flights going off every thirty minutes. There are no admission or parking fees for attendees.
